Jobber and Housecall Pro don't do taxes at all. Their customers buy QuickBooks on top, and pay for both every month.

Someone quits with your phone in their truck. Lock the seat; the tokens are revoked server-side and the device stops working. You don't have to chase the hardware to protect the data.

Bringing your history in. Bank statements (OFX, QFX, MT940, CSV) and the books you're leaving — QuickBooks (QBO or IIF), Xero, FreshBooks, Wave, Zoho Books, Sage — import today, checked line by line with duplicates skipped. Payroll records come in from ADP, Gusto and Paychex. Anything not on that list, we'll say so rather than pretend.

Under the hood

Where your data actually lives.

•Card details never touch Sterling. Payments are hosted by Stripe. We handle the invoice; they handle the card.
•Payment confirmations are signature-verified and the amount is checked against the invoice balance before anything is marked paid.
•Contractor tax IDs are encrypted, with a single path that can read them.
•Your records are isolated at the database level, not by a filter in the app.
•Backups are versioned — the last twenty — and restore in one click.
•Full CSV export of everything, any time. Your records are yours and we are not holding them hostage.

What BackOffice doesn't do: no payroll, no customer self-booking portal, no marketing automation. Tax reports export — they don't file. And inventory and crew schedules live on the machine you enter them on rather than syncing between users.
